By Eclipse September 6 .. .. Otago H.C. September 6 .. .. Wanganui J.C. September 6 and 13 Avondale J.C.. September 13 .. .. Ashburton R.C. Joygiver’s Weight Joygiver’s correct weight in the TallyHo Handicap is 9.8, and not 9.3 as appears in the race book. One Placing Homestead had only three races last season and his record was one fourth placing. He is a six-year-old by Kinnoull from Blare (Soldier's Chorus —Fanfaronade), and is trained at Washdyke by G. J. Burns, who has The Raker in his stable. Parade of Youngsters The parade of two-year-olds at Wingatui to-day will have special interest for patrons of the Dunedin Jockey Club’s meeting later in the month as a number of those engaged will contest the McLean Stakes. Aptly Named Slick will keep W. E. Hancock’s stable well in the limelight this season. The Broiefort three-year-old is one of the most promising gallopers in Wingatui stables. Schooled Well Irsh Wit went well in a school on Thursday, and with Ballyaggan as a second string, W. E. Hazlett holds a strong hand in the Otago Hunt Club Steeples. Looks the Type Debater looks the type to make a good cross-country performer. A pdwerful six-vear-old ’gelding by Defaulter, he is from Lady Burleigh (Paladin —Tormentor) and is trained at Invercargill by T. E. Pankhurst. Suited by Distance Lady Melrose will be racing over a distance that suits her to-day, and in the President’s Handicap she may improve on her recent performances. Working Well Punjab has been working well at Wingatui and her track form makes her look one of the prospects in the President’s Handicap to-day. i Spectacular Jumper The Pie, who is better known as the spectacular show jumper Viking, is a small skewbald gelding by a Balboa colt from an unknown mare, and his size is against him seeing out a race over country. Leighon Mare Dowlair was placed twice in four races last season. A six-year-old mare by Leighon, she was got from Amoena, by Philamor from a mare tracing back to Blair Athol. Dowlair’s record is not likely to bring her into favour to-day. Cross-country Performer No Charge looks like developing into a useful cross-country performer. In a school on Thursday he was inclined to run about at the fences, but cleared some in fine style. Promising Youngsters The Wingatui trainer, J. W. Pankhurst, who had the misfortune to lose the services of that good horse Diarma, has two promising youngsters in Kosher (Beaulivre—Jewish) and Court Slipper (Paper Slipper—Snaffle). Both have been shaping well in their education. Riding Engagements The following riding engagements have been made for the Otago Hunt meeting:— D. Dawson: Verdant, Cloister, Wee Mac. A. N.
