COOL AND CHANGEABLE The following official weather forecast covering the ensuing 24 hours was issued at 5 p.m. yesterday by the Meteorological Office in Wellington:— Situation.—A depression is crossing the southern districts of the South Island. Forecast to 5 p.m. To-day.—Fresh winds from a westerly quarter; weather, cool and changeable, with occasional showers. Further Outlook.—Mainly fair. Weather in Dunedin.—Although rain threatened at intervals yesterday, none fell in Dunedin. The day was overcast, only 42 minutes of sunshine being recorded. A strong north-east wind prevailed. Temperatures were as follows: Maximum 50.6 degrees, minimum 40.1 degrees, grass minimum 28.5 degrees. At midnight the barometer reading was 29.65 inches (1004 millibars).
