QUOTAS EXCEEDED MR GRIFFIN’S RETIREMENT Mr H. A. Griffln, who has been district organiser for National Savings in North Otago for the past five years, reported to a meeting of the National Savings Committee yesterday morning that in the first five months of the financial year the annual quota for North Otago had been already exceeded. The figures were as follows:—Oamaru. annual quota £33,540, national savings for five months £39.757; Hampden, £1404, £1878; Kurow, £2340, £2305 (quota reached since August 31); North Otago, £37,284, £44,495. The chief postmaster, Mr J. M. Sutherland, was in the chair, and members expressed gratification at the success attending national savings in North Otago. Mr Sutherland took the opportunity of expressing appreciation of the work done by Mr Griffin, who was now retiring from the position of district organiser, and to welcome his successor, Mr J. M. Casey. The Mayor, Mr J. C. Kirkness, also paid a high tribute to Mr Griffin’s services. Mr Griffin was appointed a member of the committee, which decided to extend wherever possible the group system of national savings in this district.
