ROXBURGH HOUSING

NO SECTIONS AVAILABLE Although Roxburgh residents have expressed the desire for a State housing schojne to be instituted immediately, officers of the Housing Department stated yesterday that, apart altogether from the Coal Creek scheme, the department had plans to erect several State houses in the town, but so far. it had been able to purchase only three sections and no one in the town seemed anxious to sell land, butif sections were available the department would build far more than three houses in Roxburgh. It was pointed out that houses would be built for the permanent staff of the hydro-electric station, but these would not necessarily be in the town. If sections were available, the department would certainly provide Roxburgh with the State houses required to meet its needs when the Coal Creek scheme was in full swing.
