BOMB IN DOWNING STREET

LONDON, Aug. 19. A policeman found a home-made bomb without a detonator in the arches opposite No. 10 Downing street to-day. It consisted of two electric batteries bound together with wire, and wired to a small glass jar, in which was a greyish-white explosive. Laboratory examination showed that the bomb would have done considerable damage if it had been detonated.
