SCENE OF CONFUSION
CHILDREN AT EXCHANGE TRANSPORT ARRANGEMENTS INADEQUATE Confusion reigned for a short time yesterday morning at the Exchange when a large number of school children were waiting for buses to take them to Logan Park, where a basketball tournament was to be held- The required buses did not arrive, and at one stage over 500 children were muling abqut aimlessly, and policemen had to control the crowd. Order was soon restored, however Some of the children caught Castle street trams, others walked, and some were lucky enough to be taken by i bus. The tournament began only it minutes late, and was running tc schedule at the lunch interval, i The engineer-manager of the Transport Department, Mr L. C. Greig when asked to comment on the matter, said that only two orders for buses to convey children to Logan Park had been received from separate schools. Then, suddenly, his department was told that there was a “vast crowd of children at the Exchange. In the 'circumstances, the one bus available had done well to make three trips.
