TROTTING NOTES

By Eclipse August 23 .. .. Thames T.C. August 23, 30 ~ Metropolitan T.C August 30 .. .. Waikato T.C Jottings Tonnby, who was previously trained by L. F. Berkett, is now under the care of A. J. Pillinger, at Epsom. Jason’s Quest was among the winners at the Methven meeting on Saturday, showing that he is a fit horse for this Addington engagements. Peter Dale is now in an Epsom stable. He was previously trained at Oamaru by S. Easton. Prospects Not Bright Glenlee, one of those on the front mark in the Intermediate Handicap at Addington on Saturday, will probably find the field just a bit too “ classy ” for him. Winner at Methven Melton, the winner of the maiden pacers’ event at Methven last Saturday, is a half-brother to Trusty Scott, being by Jewel Pointer from Trusty Maid. Engaged at Thames Direct Heir won two races in the early part of last season, but in 13 subsequent starts he had only one placed performance. At his best the Louis Direct horse would be hard to beat in the principal event at the Thames meeting on Saturday. Ready to Race R. 11. Butterick has Silverlight in splendid condition and the son of Quite Sure and Honour Bound should not be long in adding to his record. Sister to Jason’s Quest Dame Durdin, a sister to Jason’s Quest, had her first race at Methven last Saturday and won the maiden trot. She gave the impression that she will develop into a useful performer. Cup Favourite The Methven Trotting Club held a matinee meeting on Saturday and among those who competed was Emulous. He was not asked to do his best to win over a mile and three furlongs in 3min 7 2-ssec. He took the lead at the end of a furlong and won easily from Loyal Nurse, who was followed by Countless and Knave of Diamonds.
