CREAM CONSUMPTION

INCREASE IN WELLINGTON INVESTIGATION BY MINISTER REQUESTED Parliamentary Reporter WELLINGTON, Aug; 15. The increase in the consumption of cream in Wellington was the subject of a question by Mr W. A. Sheat (Oppn., Patea), of which notice was given to the Minister of Health, Mis*s Howard, in the House of Representatives to-day. Amid general amusement he asked the Minister whether she had had any report from, her officers concerning the alarming ..deterioration in the health of the people of Wellington as revealed by the enormous increase in the consumption of cream under doctors’ orders during the past two years. If she had not, would she order an immediate investigation and lay a report before the House. In a note to-his question Mr Sheat said that the Wellington City Council reported that sales of cream, for July, 1947, totalled 14,110 pints as against 10,140 in 1946 and 6473 in 1945. The increase from 6473 pints to 14,110 pints represented an increase of 118 per cent, in two years.
