AMATEUR BOXING

OAMARU ASSOCIATION At a meeting of the Oamaru Amateur Boxing Association on Thursday night it was agreed to hold the North Otago boxing championships immediately prior to the New Zealand championship meeting in Christchurch It was decided to invite entries from all the South Island associations and to inform them that from the contestants a team would be selected to represent North Otago at the New Zealand championships. It was agreed to stage a professional bout on a date following the North Otago championships. Support was accorded the nomination of Mr E. C. Isaacs (Dunedin) as manager of the 1948 New Zealand Olympic team. Mr L. Webb was in the chair at the meeting, and there was a good attendance of members.
