The Australian-bred pacer Ribbon Again will probably be clriven by J. B. Pringle at Addington. The trotter Max Baer is one of L. Davidson’s team at New Brighton. Waikato’s Profit The Waikato Trotting Club made a profit of £1430 last season, which was one of the most successful the club has experienced “ Dick ” Humphrey’s Dead The well-known trotting trainer, R. J. Humphreys, who was associated with one of the most popular and brilliant pacers
of all time, Harold Logan, died suddenly in Christchurch on Wednesday. Trotting in Victoria Night trotting in Victoria will be introduced during the last week in October. There has been a great rush by bookmakers for licences to operate at the meetings. Against the Pacers The brilliant trotter Aerial Scott will be raced against the pacers on the first day of the Metropolitan meeting. Stakes Candidate Beckleigh, one of those on the limit in the Canterbury Three-year-old Stakes, finished fourth in the Sapling Stakes after losing a big stretch of ground at* the start. The Dillon Hall colt will probably be among the favourites. Stilt Well Placed Excalibur is still well placed in the handicaps and should have a good record in the new season. Last season the Swordsman gelding won three of his 12 races. He was got from the brilliant trotting mare Worthy Queen. Showed Promise Viceroy showed promise last season by finishing in a place in two of his five starts and he should add interest to the Three-year-old Stakes. By Red Shadow, he was got from Kaulala, by Jack Potts from Horotane, by Logan Pointer from a mare by ’Crocus.
