WAIAREKA SALE
PRICES REMAIN FIRM Special to the Daily Times OAMARU. Aug, 5. There was a large yarding of fat cattle at to-day’s Waiareka sale, and, except for a few head of prime cattle just off feed, which were 10s to 15s per head higher than the rates ruling last week prices remained firm. There was a medium varding of fat sheep, prices for other than prime fat wethers showing a decline of Is to Is 6d per head. Only one pen of store sheep, was offered, and there was a small yarding of pigs. Quotations:— Fat Cattle.—Steers—extra prime £26 to £2B 10s, prime £22 to £25, medium £lB to £2l, light £l4 to £l7: heifers, light to prime, £lO 15s to £ll 10s; cows. £8 15s to £ll. Fat Sheep.—Wethers—extra prime 53s 6d to 555, prime 45s 6d to 525, medium 42s to 455, light 35s to 40s; ewes—prime to 38s, medium 30s .to 335, light 20s to 245. Store Sheep.—Pen medium Romney cross ewe lambs, 30s. Dairy Cattle.—Cows—prime £lO to £l4, aged £4 to £9. Pigs.—Weaners, 38s to 535.
