PROVISIONAL CHALLENGE

SOUTHLAND’S INTENTION If Otago can withstand challenges already entered for the Ranfurly Shield, Southland may have another game for the trophy this season. The Management Committee of the Southland Rugby Union on Monday night decided to ask that the return game between Otago and Southland at Dunedin on September 13 be a challenge one for the shield, conditional on Otago holding the Ranfurly Shield at that time. The New Zealand and Otago Rugby Unions will be informed of the union’s intentions.
