Slow Delivery of Cease Fire Message

Rec. 10 p.m. NEW YORK, Aug. 4. Colonel W. R. Hodgson, at the Security Council meeting to-day, accused the Netherlands Government of deliberately delaying the fire message to the Indonesians. He said the message reached Batavia at mid-day on Saturday and was not passed on to the Indonesian Deputy Prime Minister, Dr A. K. Gani. until 8 p.m. on Sunday. It was the council’s duty, he said, <to ensure that its decisions were communicated to the proper quarters, and he asked that responsible officers of the council go to Indonesia immediately to keep the council informed. . The chairman Fans el Khoury promised to confer with the Secretariat on Colonel Hodgson’s request.
