EVELINE LABOUR PARTY
VARIETY ENTERTAINMENT The Eveline Hall was filled for the variety entertainment given by the Eveline branch of the New Zealand Labour Party. The audience showed keen appreciation of the items and particularly the sketches and farces. Hie programme was provided by Mrs Tomlinson recitations—" Address on Man,” “Dr Schickelschruger,” and “ Topicalities ”), Mrs Gladys Fort’s School of Dancing (bridal ballet), Messrs F. Lavender, S. W. Armstrong, and Mrs Maynard (songs). Miss Valerie Smart (clog waltz), Mr Ced Fallows (pianoforte solos), Mr G. Martin (violin solos), Mr R. C. Tomlinson (weight-lifting display, “Samson”), Mr Bruce Allen (piano-accordion solos), Mr Ron Tully (tap dance), Mr James Weir (elocution), Messrs Nisbet Brothels (sketch. “Operating Theatre”), Messrs ■Fellows senior and junior (fiexatone duet), Mesdames G. Robertson and Goughian (sketch, "Cat’s Cradle”), Mrs J. Johnston, Misses B. Mason and Kippenberger, and Mr G. Robertson (sketch, " Ignorance is Bliss ”), and the finale, “ Haka,” bv Mr A. C. Amies, who was chairman. The accompaniments were played by Mesdames Woodham. Curwood, and Tomlinson. ' The president thanked all who had contributed to the success of the entertainment, especially the organiser, Mrs Tomlinson. Dancing by the young people rounded off the evening’s enjoyment, and the competition prize, given by Mesdames Bartlett and Tomlinson, was won by Mrs Coughlan.
