THE COMING WEEK

WELL-FILLED ORDER PAPER Parliamentary Reporter WELLINGTON, Aug. 3. With the introduction of additional legislation during the past week, there i<s now ample business to keep the House of Representatives fully occupied until the presentation of the Budget on August 14, even though this date is a week later than was originally intended. This delay with the Budget has no doubt been responsible for the appearance. of a relatively large amount of legislation so much earlier m the session than is usual. There is, however, a good deal oi important legislation still to be introduced. This includes a Bill to nationalise the coal resources of the Dominion, amendments to the Workers Compensation Act, and measures involving a review of the War Regulations. The, Prime Minister, Ml Fraser, has also stated that there will be legislation dealing with the letting of empty houses, and ■in addition, measures have yet to be brought down relating to tuberculosis, “ res ' social security reciprocity with Australia, and providing for the amalgamation of the Health Department and the Mental Hospitals Department, as well as that of the Labour Department and the National Employment Service. When the House resumes on Tuesday a motion to ask for leave to introduce a Legislative Council Abolition Bill of which notice was given on Friday by the Leader of the Opposition Mr Holland, will come up for discussion. . The first Government business to follow will be further consideration of the Finance Bill, on which progress has been made in committee. After this Bill, it is proposed fo take measures dealing with the restoration of licensing in the former Masterton no-licence district.
