COLD FRONT APPROACHING Fortcast for Otago.—The following official weather forecast, covering the ensuing 24 hours, was issued at 5 p.m. yesterday by the Meteorological Office in Wellington:— Situation. —There is a deep depression to the south and a cold front is moving eastwards over the south Island. Forecast to 5 p.m. To-day.—Winds turning this morning to fresh southwesterlies, strong at times on the coast, with rain accompanying the wind change, but the weather later improving and becoming fair inland while changeable and showery on the coast: temperatures cold. Weather in Dunedin.—Mild and pleasant conditions -prevailed in the city during the week-end. After eight hours of sunshine on Saturday overcast conditions were experienced, the sun shining for only 12 minutes yesterday. The temperature range was similar on both day's, the maximum readings on Saturday and Sunday respectively being 59.2 degrees and 60 degrees, while the minimum readings were 43 degrees and 44.6 degrees. The grass minimum recordings were 37 degrees and 35.4 degrees. A light breeze from the north-west was experienced on both days. The barometer was steady throughout the week-end, the reading at midnight last night being 29.9. inches (1015 millibars).
