Mr Charles Henderson, elocution examiner for the Trinity College of Music, left for Invercargill yesterday. Mr Wilfred Simenauer, the young Dunedin ’cellist, who travelled to England recently, has passed his entrance examination to the Royal College of Music, and will attend classes there when the term resumes in September.

Miss Laureen Lethaby. whose name appeared in the list of successful candidates for the A.T.C.L. diploma on Saturday, has completed her practical examination. Owing to an error in the list, her name appeared among those who have not yet completed their diploma work. An announcement that he does not intend to accept nomination as a candidate for the Auckland mayoralty has been made by Sir Ernest Davis in a letter which has been received by the chairman of the Auckland Citizens and Ratepayers’ Association, Mr J. B. Donald. Major-general H. K. Kippenberger will visit Dunedin for a few days about the middle of this month. Among the engagements arranged for his visit are an address at the annual meeting of the Dunedin Chamber of Commerce on August 14 on economic aspects of New Zealand war history, and an address to the University Club.
