MARKED GAIN IN STORAGE As a result of the beneficial rain which fell on Wednesday night, there was a marked rise in the levels of the city storage reservoirs yesterday. For the 24 hours up to 9 a.m. yesterday, the gain was 2,900,000 gallons, and the total quantity of water in the storage reservoirs was 67,466,000 gallons, this being the highest figure since May 9. The rainfall recorded for the 24 hours up to 9 a.m. yesterday was as follows:—Ross Creek, 0.81 in; Sullivan’s Dam, 0.88 in; Whare Flat, 0.99 in. Because of difficulties which have been experienced: in business premises, the period of the close-down of the outlet valves has been reduced on the low levels during the afternoon.
