SEA POWER AMONG FAVOURITES

The Dunedin Jockey Club’s winter meeting, will be opened to-morrow, with the Otago Steeples, the feature of the card, and the fields engaged should provide interesting racing. Provided there is no further fall of rain the track will be in good winter order. The club has recently carried out several improvements which will be appreciated by the public, . particularly the ashphalting of a large area in the vicinity of the totalisator and stands. Betting will be win and place and the following may be among the favourites: — 11. 0: Tahuna Hack and Hunters’ Steeples.—French Knight, Court Talk, Commemorate. 11.45: Trial Stakes: First division.—Victory Star, Perusha, Artful Maid. Second division.—Vanity King, Dark Warrior, Regatta. 12.30: Otago Hurdles.—Lost Art, Battle Chief, Amor lad. 1.15: Brighton Handicap.—Our Maureen, Kirkella, Night Blush. 2.0: Otago Steeples.—Arabian Night, Geniality-Irish Wit bracket, Tamerlane. 2.45: Birthday Handicap.—Sea Power, Eriskay. Foxchafee. 3.30: Winter Handicap.—Wild Ribbon, Patmos, St. Nattar. 4.20: St. Clair Handicap.—Siegtone, Lady Melrose, Stabilisation.
