MISTAKES IN HANDLING

AUSTRALIAN BACK LINES NEW SOUTH WALES AND QUEENSLAND SYDNEY, May 29. Eight players were added to the New South Wales Rugby Union squad for training for the match against the All Blacks on June 7, as the , result- of the watch between New South Wales second fifteen and Queensland, at North Sydney. They are.— Forwards: J. Stenmark, J. Kraeflt, D. Furness; and backs: R. Cawsey, N. Emery, J. Blomley, A. Fitzsimmons, and R. Nation. They will join the >l7 selected last week-end for special practice at Sydney Cricket Ground. A. Tonkin has already been ruled out because of a nose injury, which will prevent his playing for three weeks. Notable absentees from the squad are two Australian representatives of last year, Trevor Allan Ond Terry Macßride. Macßride was unable' to get leave to play in the trials. Allan is still on the injured list with what is believed to be a bruised ankle bone. Yesterday’s match resulted in a draw, 'll—all. Neither back line played up to top class, there being many handling mistakes. The New South Wales wing strength was reduced when K. Windoh was pressed into service due to the absence of the regular wingers. Blomley, Fitzsimmons, and Nation showed up well with smart dashes, Blomley in particular showing great penetrative ability. Both scrums packed 3-4-1. The New South Wales scrum stood up well to the heavier Queensland pack. It will be interesting to see whether the 3-2-3 scrum favoured by Coach A. C.| Wallace or the 3-4-1 advocated by the Australian selector, Harold Masters, will be adopted. The light New South Wales pack won 30 scrums against 14 won by their opponents. LONG RANGE PLANNING Rec. 11.30 p.m. SYDNEY, May 29. Trevor Allan and Terry Macßride have been included in the New South Wales squad to train for selection against the All Blacks. The selector, Mr J. Wallace, said that the selection was a long-range one and not necessarily connected with the match to be played on June 7. Canberra will invite four or possibly five Sydney players not in the squad to meet the All Blacks in the' combined team at Canberra on Wednesday.
