TRADE NEGOTIATIONS

AMERICAN POSITION WEAKENED REACTION TO WOOL BILL Rec. 8 p.m. NEW YORK. May 27. Most of the delegates to the international trade conference apparently agree that the United States has suffered a loss of prestige over the House vote on the Wool Bill and that 1 its bargaining position here has been weakened, says the Geneva corresnondent of the New York Times.

When the conference resumed to-day, after three days’ recess, it was clearly seen that the Australians, New Zealanders and South Africans were solid on the wool issue. It seems clear that the United States cannot obtain the abolition of Empire preference unless she is prepared to make a tariff reduction offer suitable to the dominions, including those whose chief export is wool.
