CINEMA BAD MANNERS
Sir, —May I voice my disapproval at the noise and goings on at our city picture theatres? On Saturday night I attended a cinema and the noise of the ’teen-agers upstairs was disgraceful, as also was their language. Another theatre I attended recently on the night of the programme change was as bad. I do not envy the girl ushers their jobs and I think, as do hundreds of other patrons, that a policeman or two at each theatre would do a lot of good. I mvself think that these young larrikins should be refused admission, and that includes the young, silly girls. They ceratinly do not go to see the pictures, for as soon as the lights are out they all seem to cuddle up and block everyone's view. It is hard to understand the bringing-up of these young larrikins, as when the pictures are finished they seem to take a great delight in yelling out and blocking all the footpaths around the Exchange area., I believe if football and other sports were made compulsory a lot of these young chaps and girls would benefit\from it.—l am, etc., Disgusted.
[The manager of cinemas in the city to whom this letter was referred said that the nuisance was created by young people, and the theatre staffs did what they could to eliminate it. They said that they would welcome any additional attendance and supervision by the police. —Ed. O.D.T.j
