“OPERATION DRIPPING”

FAT FLOWN TO BRITAIN Rec. 8 p.m. SYDNEY, May 27. In a race against time, volunteers loaded seven tons of fat into a converted Halifax bomber, which took off this morning from the Mascot aerodrome, Sydney, for Britain. The fat is being carried free of charge as the first freight to be lifted in Australia by the world aerial freighter service established by Dr Graham Humby. Much of the cargo, which was provided by the Food for Britain appeal, was taken to the airport by volunteers from the American aircraft carrier Shangri La. Some difficulty was met with in obtaining the last two tons. The scheme is aptly termed “Operation Dripping."
