ASSOCIATON FOOTBALL

SOUTH AFRICAN TOUR The New Zealand Football Association advised the Management Committee of the Otago Football Association in a letter read at the weekly meeting last night that it appeared that the South African tour would take place, and that the visitors would be in New Zealand for four weeks and a-half from June 18. It was also stated that the players for the New Zealand team last year should be prepared to stand by, as it was likely that they would again be selected to play in matches at Christchurch on June 4 and at Wellington on the following Saturday. The president, Mr E. L: Hope, and Messrs W. Woodcock, M. G. Mclnnes, H. Fiddes, W. M. Smith, W. P. Smith, W. E. Linton, P George, D. Cook and G. Wright were present. A recommendation from the,, Otago Referees’ Association that teams playing at the Caledonian Ground should be asked to take the field in an orderly manner, instead of rushing on to the field and kicking the ball about, was adopted. A player in the Mornington senior team was placed on the cautioned list following the discussion of a report by the referee of a game last Saturday. The Auckland Association advised that its team for the FA Trophy games would be:—Goalkeeper, P, Ives; right-back, I. Valentine; left-back, R. Speed; right-back, J. Espie; centre-half, O. Cleal; left-half, H. Hutchinson; outside-right, G. Robinson; inside-right, D. Wallace; centreforward, A. Wilkinson; inside-left, K. Flett; outside-left, K. Mason; reserves. B. Hopkinson and A Richards.
