RICH DUNLOP TOURNAMENT AUSTRALIAN’S SENSATIONAL START Rec. 8 i.m. LONDON, May 7. The Australian Von Nida and the Englishman, Norman Sutton, share the lead with 70 in the first round of the Dunlop 2000 guineas golf tournament being played on the Hesketh course at Southport. Other leaders are Max Faulkner (who beat Von Nida by one stroke to win the same tournament last year), R. A. Whitcombe, C. H. Ward, 72; S. L. King, T. W. Spence, W. J. Martin, 73; W. Shankland, A. Lees, R. Halsall, 74; Dai Rees, 75. Von Nida had a sensational start, completing the first nine holes in 32 which was six under the scratch score.
