CREDITORS’ MEETING
MURDERED MAN’S ESTATE P.A. WELLINGTON, May 8. A meeting of creditors in the estate of Francis Roy Wilkins, aged 47, garage proprietor, who was murdered and robbed at Wellington on April 21. was held to-day before the Official Assignee, Mr F. B. Jameson. Wilkins had filed a petition in bankruptcy 17 years ago. with a deficiency of £386, and the meeting was to determine the creditors' attitude towards the bankrupt’s property acquired after the bankruptcy. It was explained to the meeting that it appeared that, had Wilkins applied for his discharge, there would have been no reason to refuse it. As he had not done so, however, the creditors were entitled to settlement of their claims, with 6 per cent, interest for 17 years, which would approximately double the original amounts owing. There appeared to be sufficient funds to meet this. It was resolved that, assuming all creditors could be bound by the resolution, the creditors waive their right to interest on the debts, and accept a compound of 10s in the £1 on the proved debts in full satisfaction of the proved debts and interest. This resolution will come before a later special meeting of creditors in the form of a notice of motion.
