THE WEATHER
FAIR WITH WESTERLY WINDS The following official weather forecast, covering the ensuing 24 hours, was issued at 5 p.m. yesterday by the Meteorological Office in Wellington:— Situation.—A ridge of high pressure extends from South-east Australia across the North Island, while pressures are low to the south. Forecast to 5 p.m. To-day.—Mode-rate to fresh westerly winds; weather fair; temperatures moderate. Weather in Dunedin.—lntermittent sunshine, totalling 3 hours 42 minutes, a very light north-east air, and mild temperatures combined to create pleasant conditions in Dunedin yesterday. The maximum temperature was 55.3 degrees, the minimum was 45 degrees, and the grass minimum was 41.1 degrees. A fairly heavy shower of rain during the night gave a recording of 0.04 inches. The barometer was somewhat erratic, and after rising fairly rapidly during the morning, dropped again equally as quickly, and at midnight stood at 30.05 inches (1016 millibars).
