St. John Ambulance.—During April the St. John ambulance attended 2 accidents, effected 18 removals, and travelled 340 miles.

Kurotv Memorial Hall.—A dance in aid of the Kurow Memorial Hall funds will be held in the hall on Friday, May 9, and not Saturday, as was inadvertently advertised yesterday. Collection of Fat.—The Maheno Red Cross will make a house-to-house collection for fat for England in the Maheno and Reidston districts on Saturday, May 17. Clean, rendered fat in any sized tins will be appreciated. Sub-union Football.—The following is the Waitaki Sub-union draw for to-day:— Duntroon v. Tokarahi, at Duntroon (Mr A, Grant); Otekaike v. Kurow, at Otekaike (Mr W. Laird). Manchester Unity.—N.G. Bro. W. W. Stevenson was in the chair at the fortnightly meeting of the Loyal Oamaru Juvenile Lodge on Thursday night. Three new members were initiated. During the meeting a ritual competition in connection with the initiation of members was held. The social hour took the form of singing lessons. Soap Drive.—The soap drive organised by the Oamaru Sub-centre of the Red Cross yesterday in seven schools in Oamaru met with an excellent response. Bath, toilet, and laundry soap was included in the collection, which will be sent to England to help to reduce the shortage there.
