VAST FORTUNE .ACCUMULATED BUENOS AIRES, Apl. 10. The death is announced of Mr Simon Patino. Known as the “ Tin King ot the World,'' Patino had the tin industry so thoroughly tied up that every time an American housewife opened a tin of food she contributed a mite to his personal fortune. The United Pres says his personal fortune has been estimated as high,'as'soo.ooo,ooo dollars Patino was reported to j haye: made his start about 1900. when, as a bill collector, he accepted a piece of land in the Bolivian ’ mountains in settlement of a debt. His employer dismissed him, but allowed him to keep the apDarently useless land. Patino found tin on the land, and by 1914 was one of the world’s richest men. Patino had three palaces in Bolivia built at a total cost of 30.000.000 dollars but he had not visited his native countrv since 1924.
