LIFE OF PRINCESS
SOUVENIR BOOK COMPILED The story of Princess Elizabeth’s 21 years is admirably and authoritatively outlined in a well-illustrated book entitled “Princess Elizabeth,” which by the King's permission will be published to-morrow. The book is compiled by Mr Dermot Morrah, assisted by Miss Betty Spencer Shew, for King George’s Jubilee Trust. Mr Morrah points out that no Queen of England has immediately succeeded her father, also that no reigning Sovereign until George VI brought up his daughter as his successor. Mr Morrah emphasises that Princess Elizabeth is the Hear Presumptive and not the Heir Apparent. One result of this is that she is unlikely ,to be created Princess of Wales, a title which is never given to the Heir Presumptive, although it is within the King’s power ta break away from the .past.
The War Office announced that the King had given orders for the appointment of Princess Elizabeth as Colonel-in-Chief of the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, also as Colonel-in-Chief of the Sixteenth Lancers. .
