BARQUE PAMIR
FUTURE UNDECIDED GOVERNMENT CONSIDERING MATTER P.A. WELLINGTON, Apl. 21. “Although no definite decision has yet been made as to the use to which', the former Finnish barque Pamir will be put at the end of her present voyage from Sydney to Wellington, the Government is giving full consideration to suggestions that the vessel should be used as a training ship for sea cadets,” said the Minister of Marine, Mr O'Brien, to-day. He added that reports that a decision had been made to instal propelling machinery in the vessel and use her in commercial trade were incorrect. The Pamir was bringing to the Dominion 2700 tons of cement for distribution throughout Taranaki district and the lower portion of the North Island, said the Minister of Works, Mr. Semple to-day. The cement was being imported by the Public Works Department and would be distributed to meet the seasonal demands of primary production consumers for whom supplies were reauired during the next three months. The use of the cement would be strictly limited to essential purposes. and releases would be made only through, district building controllers and cement committees on the recommendation of responsible officers of the Department of. Agriculture.
