SUCCESSFUL TEST

KARAPIRO GENERATOR P.A. AUCKLAND, Apl. 21. Commencing shortly after 7 o’clock this morning at three-quarter strength, No. 1 unit at - the Karapiro Hydroelectric Station was run up to its full load of 30,000 kilowatts in about two hours and was connected to the North Island power system throughout the remainder of the day. It was shut off about 8 o’clock to-night when further inspections were made, but it is expected that the turbine will be reconnected in the morning. Provided there are no unforseen developments, it should not be long before the machine is available for continuous service. ,
