Mr P. A. Smithells, superintendent of physical education in the Education Department, is visiting Dunedin. Mr J. A. Hey has returned to Dunedin after a business visit to Australia. A tribute to the service given to the country by the late Mr D. G. Sullivan was paid last night by the Mayor of Port Chalmers. Mr H. S. Watson, at the monthly meeting of the Borough Council. The council's tribute was placed on record. The president, Mr R. W. S. Botting, referred at last night’s meeting of the Management Committee of the Otago Rugby Football Union to the death of Mr W. Rennick, a well-known member of the Alhahibra Club. Mr Rennick was prominent as a referee after his playing days were over, was a member of the Appointment Board, and represented" the Referees’ Association on the union.. The chairman also expressed regret at the loss suffered by Mr R. McKenzie in the death of his wife, and at the death of Mr S. Orchard, of Christchurch, who had represented New Zealand at Rugby and cricket. Motions of sympathy were carried. Passengers who left by air for the north yesterday were:—Mr A. O. Wilkinson, for Christchurch: Mr H. Kwok, Mr J. Ferney, Miss E. E. Watson, Miss O'Callaghan, Mrs F. Varney, Mr F. Varney, Mr G. G. Anderson, Miss J. Pilcher, for Wellington; Mrs W. Loader, for Palmerston North: Mrs J. Holloway, Mr and Mrs I. S. Anderson, Mr E. Sutter, for Auckland. Those for the south were:—Miss E. Andrews, Mr 1 G. McMatty, and Mr D. R. Hunter. Passengers who arrived from the north were:—Mr G. Hutchinson, Mr G. D. Coates, Mr H.. P. Johnston, Mr T. D. Brewer, Mr J. C. Watt, Mr G. Bayliss, Mr D. H. Todd, Mr R. H. Purdon, Mr P; Dunn, Mr J. Proudfoot, Mr S. I. Homer, Mr J. R. Dunlop, Mr and Mrs W. H. Johnston, Mr Ruddiman, Mr A. T. Thomas.
