Special to the Dally Times CHRISTCHURCH, Apl. 21. Mrq D O. Rutherford, of Riccarton, had bad luck at the end of last week, when she lost her three-year-old Duncans Quib, a member of W. Barr s team. He slipped and fell while working on the sand track, breaking a shoulder, and he had to be destroyed. He was a wellerown and good-looking colt by Leighon from the useful race mare Tuirau, and he seemed on the way to being a good horse Prince Dolomite, trained for some time Dast bv E Rosewarne, has been sold, and he will be shipped to the North Island this week He had some useful jumping form, including a win in the Peerswick Hurdles at the recent meeting of the Canterbury Jockey Club. He has been nominated for the Great Northern Hurdles The four-year-old Kirkella will have to miss his engagements at Amberley this week He bruised a foot at the end of last week, and H. Nurse has found it necessary to spell him for a few days. Test Pilot is training on in good style, and in view of his attractive schooling displays he looks on the way to good steeplechase form in the winter. He is booked to start cross-country racing at Wanganui at the end of next month. Before he goes north he is booked to race at Ashburton, where he has engagements in the chief flat races. Gay Fort has been nominated for the Great Northern Hurdles and Steeplechase. F. Holmes has a new horse that w:ll race in his own colours, starting at Ashburton next month. He is Royal Flash, a six-year-old by Wheriko, and he came here from the North Island. He has won on the flat, while he has had some jump•ing experience. Revolte has finished his racing for this season, and J. C. Tomkinson has turned him out to spell for a few months. Gulf Stream was lame when he left the track after his work one morning last week. While C. G. Humphries would

prefer to be without the trouble, he is not greatly concerned, as it is a frequent happening, which the gelding throws off quickly. He has been nominated for Ashburton.
