MAORI MYTHS
FOLK TALES AND LEGEND Myths and Legends of Maoriland. By A, W. .Reed. With illustrations by George Woods and W. Dittmer. A. H. and A. W. Reed. Ltd. 15s. Most of the legends printed in this book have previously been published in one form or another, and the author gives due recognition to Sir George Grey, John White and other early investigators who first put the tales on
printed record. Mr Reed has produced a most pleasing anthology, and the imaginative drawings by George Woods and W. Dittmer will ensure for it a favourable reception. The collection of tales contains some of the bestknown of the Maori nature myths and legends of culture heroes, and for this reason it must be warmly recommended as a gift to children or their elders who have not previously become acquainted with the fascinating folk tales of the Maori. E. A. A.
