CHECK ON AGGRESSION

ATOMIC BOMB AND RUSSLA WASHINGTON, Mar. 28. Mr George H. Earle, former Governor of Pennsylvania, giving evidence before the House Committee on UnAmerican Activities to-day, declared that if the United States had not possessed the atomic bomb, the Russian armies would have fanned out all over Europe and most of Asia by now. Mr Earle doubled whether “more than 1U per cent, of us will be alive five years hence,” because of the reluctance of the United States to atom bomb Russia. ■ Mr Earle said Russia could send atomic bombs in ships to New York, Boston or San Francisco. One superbomb exploded in Baltimore would wreck Washington. Giant submarines could fire jet-propelled atomic bombs, and 500 aircraft from the Kuriles could cover all America. Mr Earle suggested that America should perfect the most terrible weapons and hide them in the interior, thereafter notifying Russia. ‘ After the first atom bomb explodes here, we will destroy every city in Russia,” he said.
