INTERCLUB GOLF
MATCH WITH CHRISTCHURCH OTAGO LOSES A TROPHY The annual competition between the Otago and Christchurch Golf Club for the Hanmer Challenge Shield, for foursomes, and the Campbell Hosking Shield, for singles play, was held on the Shirley links at Christchurch on Saturday. The Otago Club, which had won both trophies in the three previous years, lost the foursomes shield, but retained the singles trophy. The results were as follows (Christchurch names first):— Hanmer Challenge Shield.—C. J. Ward and J. L. Blair beat A. Gibb and B. V. Wright 7 up, L. A. Watson and C. W. Caldwell beat A. H. Boyd and T. C Tyrrell 2 up, O A. Y. Johnston and A. A. Holland beat J. N. Lemon and F. W. Dixon 3 up, E. J. Pumphrey and P. H. N. Freeth beat A G. Sime and T. B. Ferguson 1 up. Campbell Hosking Shield.—Ward beat Wright 4 and 3. Blair beat Gibb 1 up, Watson lost to Lemon 4 and 3, Caldwell beat Boyd 3 and 1, Johnston lost to Tyrrell 2 and 1, Holland lost to Dixon 3 and 2, Freeth lost to Sime 1 down, Pumphrey lost to Ferguson 1 down.
