LUPINS ON FIRE

OUTBREAK AT MUSSEL BAY An outbreak of fire among the lupins on the Otago Harbour Board reserve at Mussel Bay yesterday afternoon was attended by the Port Chalmers Volunteer Fire Brigade which, with five leads, of hose in operation, worked for two hours and a-half to control the flames. Special precautions were necessary to prevent damage to several ■ garages near the lupins, but the fire * was extinguished without any damage to property resulting. At one stage the trees on the edge of the reserve were in danger.
