WAR VETERANS

PLANS FOR GARDEN HOMES CENTRAL OTAGO SUGGESTED The claims of Central Otago as a suitable site for the erection of a home for war veterans on the lines of the Narrahene Veterans’ Home, a garden settlement... in New South Wales are to be emphasised by the Otago’ Provincial Patriotic Council in accordance with a decision reached at the meeting of the council yesterday afternoon. A committee has been appointed by the. council to confer with interested organisations in Dunedin and prepare a report for submission to the next meeting of the council. The matter was brought forward, by the Mayor, Mr Cameron, who is the representative of the council on the National Patriotic • Fund Board. He said that consideration of the possibility of.establishing such a veterans’ home in both the-North and South Islands had been given by the board. Some discussion took place on the proposal, during which the suitability of some parts of Central Otago for such a home was given prominence by speakers.
