COMPETITIONS IN NORTH OTAGO The North Otago Lawn Tennis Association’s Competition was advanced a stage further last Saturday, when Awamoa beat the previously unbeaten Meadowbank team, and Wesley beat Kurow. The Awamoa v. Meadowbank game was a close contest, with Awamoa winning by 9 matches to 7. Giffin, Logan, and McDougall won their Singles, while Anderson lost in straight sets to Laney 6—3, 6—4. In the Women’s Singles Misses Corrigall and Morrison and Mrs Watson won for Meadowbank. The two Men’s Doubles were keenly contested, both going to three sets before being won by Awamoa. The winning of the Men’s Doubles was the deciding factor in Awamoa’s win. The Women’s and Mixed Doubles were divided, each side securing two wins. When Wesley met Kurow, at Kurow, neither team was at full strength. Wesley won by 10 matches to 5, one Women's Double being unplayed. Three Singles' and both Doubles were won by Wesley in the men’s sets, and in the women’s events two Singles were won by Wesley, and the only Doubles played went to Kurow. In the Mixed Doubles three sets went to Wesley and one to Kurow., Familton Cup Quarter Final.—W. Giffin beat E. Tonics G—l 6—4. Junior Draw for To-morrow Wesley A v. Pukeuri, at Wesley; Wesley B v. St. Paul’s, at Gardens; Meadowbank B v. Papakaio. at Meadowbank; Meadowbank A v. Enfield, at Gardens.
