Early Win Likely Despatch, a place-getter in a division of the Woburn Handicap at Hutt Park, is one of H. J. Smith’s team. A four-year-old by Lusty Volo from Diamond Cluster, he should not be off the winning list much longer. Maida Dillon

A four-year-old mare by Raider, she is from Ayr, by Logan Pointer from Precision, by St. Swithin from Kildasa, by the thoroughbred Kilcheran from Idasa Commotion is a halfsister to Cloudy Range (by Wrack) and Springfield Globe (by Globe Derby).

Should Be Prominent, Bill Axworthy's record for the season is five starts for a win, a second, a third and a fourth, and he is expected to race prominently from the front of the Visitors’ Handicap at Invercargill to-day. Trained at Gore by J. Walsh, he is a five-year-old by Arion Axworthy from Morado.

Converted to Trotting Donald Dinnie, who was successful as a pacer when trained by P. P. Gallagher, is now being trained at Yaldhurst by D. Lamberton, who has converted him to the trotting gait. A six-year-old gelding, Donald Dinnie is by Quite Sure from Morewa, who left the promising mare Bellissima, to Certissimus. Improved Form

In her most recent race, the Riversdale Trot at the Gore Racing Club’s meeting a fortnight ago, Sand Piper showed improved form to run third to Lady Vi and Grattan Drive after being well placed throughout. Among those who started from the same mark as the Sandydale mare were Clueless, Dragoman, Oporo and Sally Lynn. Sand Piper is engaged at Invercargill to-day, and will probably appeal to place bettors.
