WAGE INCREASES
PLASTERERS’ AWARD
Wage increases ranging from Id to 2Jd per hour have been made by the Arbitration Court in the Otago and Southland plasterers', award, issued yesterday. Journeymen are to be paid not less than 3s 3d an hour, an increase of Id; journeymen fibrous plasterers, 3s 3d an hour, an increase of 2Jd; and fibrous plaster casters and wallboard makers, 2s llid an hour, an increase of 2d. Adjustments have been made to the scale of wages for boys and youths. Anniversary Day, or a day in lieu of it, has been added to the list of paid holidays. The claim for the transfer of any holiday falling on a Saturday has not been granted. Workers employed on any coloured work are to receive 2s 6d per day or part of a day extra while so engaged. Coloured work shall not include white, or ordinary grey cement or boncote or similar paints. Where a worker spends more than 4d a day on fares between the Central Post Office and his work any amount in excess Is to be refunded by the employer.
