DOMINION CHAMPIONSHIPS MEN’S TITLE TO LA ROCHE P.A. WELLINGTON, Feb. 2. Maintaining the consistency which he revealed -throughout the -tournament, C. La Roche, of Wanganui, won the Men’s Championship at the national croquet tournament on Saturday, beating W. H. Kirk, of Geraldine, in two straight games. At the start of the first game. La Roche did not play with his usual sound judgment and made several errors but later he retrieved his position. In the Championship Doubles, La Roche and Mrs Wood, having won both lives, the decision of runners-up rested with H. Ford and Mrs Palmer and Mesdames Clark and Penn, the latter pair winning. Results:— Championship Doubles. Runnersup, Mesdames Clark and Penn beat H. Ford and Mrs Palmer 26—21. Women’s Championship.—Mrs Kirk beat Miss Wainwright 9—26. 26—21, 26—19; Mrs McLennan beat Mrs McMurray 26—11, 26—7; Mrs Tingey beat Mrs Kibblewhite 26—10, 26—11; Mrs Gilbert beat Mrs Dick 26—12, 26—14. Handicap Singles. Lieutenantcolonel Saalfeld beat Miss Lydford 26—22: Saalfield beat Mrs Wood 26—21; La Roche beat W. H. Kirk 26—3; Mrs McLennan beat R. W. McCreath 26—3. Level Singles.—C. T. Wadsworth beat Mrs Quinn 26—11; Mrs Dewhurst beat Mrs Campbell-Smith 26—20; Mrs Quinn beat Mrs Dewhurst 26—15. Men’s Championship. Final: La Roche beat Kirk 26—22, 26—7. Open Championship.—Miss Claughton beat Mrs Watkins 7—26, 26—12, 26—1; H. Ford beat C. Bryan 16—26, 26—9, 26—14.
