PAY AND CONDITIONS

DAIRY FACTORY WORKERS (P.A.) WELLINGTON. Jan. 8. The hearing of the dispute on the rates of pay and the conditions of employment of workers in dairy factories and related trades between the New Zealand Dairy Factories Industrial Association of Employers and the Dairy Factory Workers’ Union began in Wellington to-day b ffore conciliation commissioner Mr S. Kitcme, who suggested that the negotiations should begin afresh as the August conciliation had achieved nothing permanent. The proceedings to-day consisted of an attempt on the part of both groups to reach an immediate agreement on as many claims as possible, leaving the more contentious matters to later discussion.
