STEER-RIDING CONTESTS

Sir,—There is quite a lot of truth in what “Disgusted Spectator" says in regard to the steer-riding contest at Owaka rodeo. I would suggest that any judge, before accepting, should either ride out the first steer and give the riders an idea of what is expected of them, or have a steer-riding record. Unless they can qualify they should not be competent to judge. This should also apply to the Steer-riding Committee.—l am, etc., Cowboy Jim.
