Eveline.—Mrs Mackie, vice-president, presided at the December meeting. The motto was " Grow old along with me; the best is yet to be." Grandmothers gave a programme of pianoforte solos, duets, recitations, playettes, songs, sketches and choruses. The January meeting will take the form of a picnic in the Oamaru Gardens on January 23. Mrs Keith was presented with a floral spray, and good wishes extended to her on her departure from Oamaru., The competitions resulted: Christmas gift, Mrs Mackie 1, Mrs Melton 2. Miss Mollison 3: peas, Mrs Melton 1. Mrs Mackie 2; roses, Mrs Hedges 1, Mrs Mackie. 2, Mrs Campbell 3; shortbread. Mrs Campbell 1, Miss Hartley 2. Mrs Melton 3. Waipiata.—The motto was Peace on earth, goodwill towards men.” Three letters were read from friends overseas, thanking members for food parcels. The monthly competition, a Christmas novelty, was won by Mrs D. Kaye, with Mrs W. Telfer second. After the business a children’s Christmas party was held. There was a large attendance of pupils from the school. also younger children and mothers. Ice creams and sweets were distributed to those present, and each child received a gift from the decorated Christmas tree.
