drop out, while Foxchase moved up to be on terms with Aurora Australis. Aurora Australis was first into the straight, but over the last furlong she was hotly challenged by both Eriskay and Foxchase. Caudray won the Oretl Harness Trot with a lot in hand, and was not seriously challenged to win by two lengths and a-half from Sypland, who beat Doonholme just as easily. Grelba was a moderate fourth ahead of Moneymate and Loyal Nelson. Win for Aldair Kite High was backed down to a short price in the Waikiwi Handicap, but he did not receive a good run over the concluding stages, and was beaten out of the money. Kyron was first into the straight from Lindy Lou, Merry Lancer, Kite High, and Aldair. Merry Lancer had charge at the distance, and then Aldair put in his claim and came on to beat Merry Lancer by a length, while Rhine Lord was placed third ahead of Air Chief. Kite High appeared to tie third. The Sea Power-Sailor’s Pal bracket was backed down to a short price in the Waikiwi Handicap, but Eenbecula beat the pair home. Sailor's Pal forced all the pace, but Sea Power was chopped back at the start, and tailed the field early. He put in a run round the field at the half-mile, and had joined Sailor’s Pal in the lead at the straight entrance, where Solver, Black Light, Grand Forest, and Benbecula were handy. In the run home Benbecula finished with a fine run to beat Sea Power by a neck, with Sailor's Pal a head away third. Grand Forest was fourth ahead of Solver and Black Light. Listen In was prominent early, but' dropped back at the half-mile, and finished last.
