Special Articles by E. O. Blamires We publish this morning the first of a series of articles on the cricket Tests, writtemfor the Daily Times by the Rev. E. O. Blamires, who went by air to Australia to see the Australian and M.C.C. teams in action. Mr Blamires, who is one of the best known of New Zealand representative cricketers, has had a specially long and interesting
association with cricket in Otago. He first playe.d here in 1903 with the Port Chalmers Cricket Club, then captained by A. E. Geddes. In 1908 he joined the Carisbrook Club, captained by Arthur Fisher, and whose members included H.' C. Weston, T. D. Adams, C. C. Hopkins and M. Rutherford. From 1923-28 he played for Albion, and represented Otago, for three years being skipper, and in this period, the 1924-25 season, Otago won the Plunket Shield for the first time. Mr Blamires has scored the century for Otago three times: 133 v. Canterbury in 192324, Otago ■ winning the. match marking the diamond jubilee between the provinces; 117 v. Wellington; 101 (retired) v. Southland.
