DUNEDIN JOCKEY CLUB

MONTHLY MEETING The monthly meeting of the committee of the Dunedin Jockey Club, held yesterday afternoon, was attended by Messrs L. C. Hazlett' (chairman), C. N. Draper, K. Clark, A. P. Greenfield, W. Garrett, J. A. Gow, B. S. Irwin, D. M. Reid, A. N. Smith, and Dr E. R. Harty. Applications for permission to hold annual picnics at the Wingatui racecourse were granted as follows: —Dunedin Working Men’s Club, February 1, 1947; Anderson’s Bay Public School Committee, February 3; United Friendly Societies’ Picnic Committeee, March 8 (if available), or, alternatively, March 15. It was reported that sealing work at Wingatui was progressing favourably. Advice was received from the Railways Department that the south expresses would stop at Wingatui on the two days of the Cup meeting, Thursday (Boxing Day) and Saturday* December 28 and 28. and that a special train would run from Balclutha The financial statement was tabled, and arrangements completed for the Cup meeting. Highly satisfactory tests were reported m respect of the quality of the water from the bore sunk at Wingatui.
