KINDERGARTEN ASSOCIATION

GRADUATES ENTERTAINED The Dunedin Free Kindergarten Association held a reception in the Somerset Lounge last night, at which the students who had passed their final examinations this year were presented with their diplomas by the Mayor, Mr Cameron, the president of the council, Mrs Dora Smeaton, and the principal of the kindergartens, Miss A. Duthie. The guests, including the parents of the graduates, were welcomed by Mrs Smeaton. who congratulated the graduates on their success, and reminded them of their

responsibility in helping to mould the lives of children between the ages of three to five years. Mr Cameron also congratulated the graduates and said that a child’s kindergarten training was the foundation of its education. On behalf of the staff, Miss Duthie expressed thanks to the council and local committees for their support throughout the year. In speaking of the kindergarten principals, she said that the happy atmosphere prevailing throughout the mothers’ clubs was largely due to their influence.

Diplomas were presented to the following graduates.—Misses Marjorie Johnson. Dorothy Ironside. Marjorie Newlands, Frances Ross, Maureen McHutchon, Heather McFarlane, Marjorie Segar Irelle Hore and Margery Doyle.
